Maastricht + Olmense zoo

We got quite a bit done at the weekend despite everything. On Saturday We headed to Maastricht in Holland for a few hours. We didn't really do much we just had a walk around and had a bite to eat before we headed home.

We got out of the car and there was a concert type thing on, no clue what it was about, we watched it for a few moments before heading on.

There was a shop that had an awesome speaker wall. I wanted to get a picture beside it but I just look like a ghost. He didn't even have the flash on or anything, I think I'm just getting paler by the day!

There was a nice old church so we decided to have a look in it. There were a few other people in it and some people were walking into a sort of downstairs room, we followed them thinking that it was part of the church you could look in. We got inside and realised that we had accidentally walked into some sort of mass, I have never run out of somewhere so quick in my life!

We walked down by the river for a while, had a look in some shops and then just headed home! On the way home we noticed a sign for a zoo that was right near the apartment, literally a five minute drive away. We were going to go see it at some stage but decided to go the next day as usually nothing is open on a Sunday so we don't end up doing very much!

This was a huge open enclosure with birds flying around in it!
We walked by the lion enclosure and heard banging and roaring from inside this metal door, it was terrifying!
We walked by into a darkened room and I thought it was just an empty glass cage when suddenly a lion jumped of nowhere! I screamed like a girl, It was crazy being so close to him.
Next week we are going to go to a theme park if the weather stays nice! This one is right near the house http://www.bobbejaanland.be/ I cant wait to check it out!

Just another day

The last few days were pretty uneventful. I spent most of today cleaning the apartment because it was in bits.  Yesterday I made dinner and we haven't died yet so I'm taking that as a success!

We usually head down to the market a few days a week instead of doing a big shop so that stuff doesn't go off and we can keep track of what we have for dinner. Before the market though we went to the place across from the apartment that does crates of drink, and other things such as glasses. We got  crate of pepsi as well as six random glasses for only ten euro! We got a pepsi glass, a sprite glass as well as some other names we didn't know.

After there we headed to the market. Behind it there are two families of chickens, I have no idea why they are there, or who owns them!

Every time we go to the market I find something weird or random that we can't get home, today was no exception!

The most terrifying note book I have ever seen in my life

We found Kerry gold

I found these awesome lego lunch boxes and had to have one!

A day out at Antwerp zoo

As it was the weekend and Cian was off work we decided to head in to Antwerp to go to the zoo. It was baking out, 23 degrees, so I made sure we were covered in sun cream. I forgot the mosquito repellent though and had two lovely bites on my arm when I woke up this morning :( We had a great day out though. The zoo is literally right beside the train station! The train station itself was amazing, really beautiful building. I took a few photos but they don't do it justice.

Antwerp train station

We were going to have a look around in some of the shops and when we went to cross the road and suddenly an army parade just started, It lasted about five minutes and then everyone just crossed the road, it was very random!

After a look around we headed off to the zoo.
It was so warm even the camels had given up on life
I tried to pet him and he ran away :(
